Rivalry between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi has been fierce that both stars have won virtually all the prestigious individual awards in their careers.

Despite the Portuguese superstar missing out on most of the awards to Messi and Virgil van Dijk this year, he can look back and take pride in how much money he raked in on social media.

The 34-year-old made it up for himself elsewhere as he beat the Barcelona star, three others to emerge the biggest earner on Instagram this year – netting an incredible KSh 5 billion (£38.2 million).

According to Sunsport, Ronaldo earned an average of about KSh 100 millon for each sponsored post.

Messi, on the other hand charged a minimum of KSh 70 million per post which resulted in him taking home a total of KSh 2.5 billion (£18.7 million) to finish second on the chart.

American model and media personality Kendall Jenner ranked third on the new rich list compiled by Buzz Bingo.

The 24-year-old is the highest female Insta earner in the outgoing year with a total of KSh 1.5 billion(£12.7 million) – which is said to be four times her star sister Kylie Jenner.

Former Manchester United and Real Madrid star David Beckham takes the fourth position on the chart – but remains the most paid British star in the year under review.

The 44-year-old boasts of over 59 million followers on Instagram and he was said to have made about KSh 1 billion(£8.6 million).

Selena Gomez wraps up the top five on the table with £6.4 million.
